Leader Cares helps community build State-of-the-Art Playground

Community Unites to Build State-of-the-Art Playground for The Bonner Academies of The Buckeye Ranch

Leaderpromos joined KaBOOM! and 200+ volunteers from The Columbus community to build a kid-inspired playground at The Bonner Academies of The Buckeye Ranch. There was an urgent need for the kids to have a fun and safe place to play in the area. Over its lifetime, this playground in Columbus will be able to serve thousands of kids!

LP employees and volunteers spent two days prepping and one day of building the playground. Within six hours the playground was built from start to finish. Thousands of pounds of concrete were mixed and poured and moved enough safety surfacing to cover more than nine NBA-sized basketball courts.

“Here at The Buckeye Ranch, we are incredibly excited for the arrival of the new playground at our West Broad Street location. Having access to safe, age-appropriate play equipment is critical for the treatment of the children that we serve through our Day Treatment program. Not only does this new playground provide opportunities for clients to practice and build needed social skills, but it also provides a fun location for them to engage in regulating activities like swinging and climbing which will improve their ability to successfully participate in our program. Regulation and play often go hand-in-hand for the children in our program, and this new playground will provide much needed equipment and space for our clients to learn and play together,” said Amy Gamber, Clinical Manager of The Bonner Academies.

Play is essential to the physical, cognitive, creative, social and emotional development of every kid. It’s how kids build strong muscles and healthy bodies; it’s how they learn problem-solving, conflict resolution and creativity; it’s how they make friends and build strong bonds with adults. Play is critical to a kid’s ability to thrive.

What’s next for Leader Cares

Leader Cares will be giving back to After-School All-Stars. For the whole month of November, Leaderpromos will gather food to help create Thanksgiving meals for the children of After-Schools All-Stars (ASAS). Once each bag is built, they will be delivered and Leaderpromos will spend time with the kids and give away more giveaways. It has been something that has become special to Leaderpromos. The associates truly love being able to give to the organization and look forward to each year. Stay tuned for photos and more!
