From Zero to Millions: Famous Logos and Their Costs

You may be surprised some of today's most recognizable brand logos cost nothing while others cost millions. A site called Stock Logos put together a list of iconic logos to show that great designs can come from anywhere.

Some of these emblems were designed by expensive ad agencies, but others have more common origins. For example, Nike gave a young college student a modest sum to design the "Swoosh," while Enron paid famous graphic designer Paul Rand over 900 times more for their logo. (Don't worry, later on, the student received a gold "Swoosh" ring embedded with a diamond and an envelope filled with an undisclosed amount of stock options.)

We've included the prices paid by Coca-Cola, Enron, Nike, BP, Google and Twitter in the graphic below. Are you shocked by the amounts? Tell us in the comment section!

And of course, if you want to elevate your logo to icon status, start by getting it out in front of your clients with promotional products. (We may know a company that can help you!)
