As a farmer, I love plants! As a farm educator, I love sharing with others! This product combines the best of both worlds - sharing plants with anyone lucky enough to receive one of these cute logo planters!
I first saw the Flower Pot Set at the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association conference (OEFFA is Ohio's organic certifying agency). I organized the kids' portion of their annual conference and had the chance to work with several eco-conscious organizations on programs for the kids. Chipotle brought each of the children one of these planters to take home. They contained tomato seeds and had the Chipotle logo on the front. I thought it was a great way to encourage gardening while helping the kids and parents remember that Chipotle was involved.
When I planted my own Flower Pot Set, I used basil seeds. The product was so easy to use! The instructions are in a simple picture format so even very young children (or adults without green thumbs) can understand. And it's so fun! You soak the soil disk in water, and like magic, it expands to many times its size - right before your eyes! You then simply pop the seeds into the soft soil, water it, and wait. The seeds didn't take long to sprout and before I knew it, basil was growing on my window sill.
Most plants will need potted-up into a bigger container in order to grow to maturity, but then this little pot can be reused to start more seeds, or used in other ways. I'm looking forward to using mine to hold paper clips on my desk.
