Tips to Stay Healthy

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) there are some simple things you can do to help prevent the spread of the flu:

  • Wash your hands frequently or use a hand sanitizer.
  • Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Disinfect any surfaces you think may have been contaminated by a sick person. The influenza virus can live 2-8 hours on tables, counters and other objects.
  • If you do get sick, stay home! People infected with the H1N1 flu may be able to infect others from 1 day before getting sick to 5 to 7 days after. The CDC recommends that you stay home at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.
